Karen Retzer is the Champaign Compassion & Choices Action Team Leader. For several years, she has worked on end-of-life issues and advocated for aid-in-dying legislation in Illinois. She will discuss issues of personal autonomy in health care decision making, and walk through topics such as advance directives, communicating wishes, and medical aid in dying.
Prior to joining the Compassion & Choices Action Team, Karen worked at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for 22 years in survey research and international studies. She also has experience at the National Academy of Sciences in Washington D.C., served in the Peace Corps in Gabon, and served on a state legislative campaign in Michigan. Karen is passionate about empowering individuals through education and awareness. Come and join us for this important topic, and learn ways you can get involved.
